A satellite print of any place on Earth

Pick a place that means something, frame it on the map, and Overview composes it from high-resolution satellite or aerial imagery into a print. You see a free preview before you pay anything.

How it works

  1. Go to Custom Prints, search for a place, and move the map until the view is right. Choose square or 2:3 rectangle and one of four sizes.
  2. Add a note if there's something specific you want in the frame (the house, the dock, the back nine) and request a free preview with your email.
  3. Overview sources the best available imagery of that spot, composes and color-balances it by hand, and emails you the preview.
  4. If you like it, you buy it, framed or unframed. If not, there's nothing to pay.

What people order

The most common requests are a hometown, a wedding venue, a honeymoon spot, an alma mater, a first home, a favorite trail or beach, and a parent's farm. They are given as wedding, anniversary, housewarming, graduation and retirement gifts, and ordered by companies for the places their teams work. Places with a strong shape read best from above: a coastline, a river bend, a grid of streets, a harbor, a stadium, a patchwork of fields.

Common questions

Can I get a satellite image of my house or hometown as a print?

Yes. Overview's Custom Prints let you choose any place on Earth, frame the exact view on a map, and request a free preview. The image is composed by hand from high-resolution satellite or aerial data, and you only pay once you've approved the preview.

How much does a custom satellite print cost?

Square prints are $175 for 12 × 12 inches, $300 for 20 × 20, $450 for 30 × 30 and $750 for 40 × 40. Rectangle (2:3) prints are $200, $400, $500 and $900 for the same four sizes. The premium over a standard print covers sourcing and composing the image for your place. Framing is available at checkout.

Do I have to pay before I see it?

No. You request a free preview first. Overview emails you the composed image, and you buy only if you like it.

How detailed is the imagery?

Detail depends on the place. Cities and populated areas in the United States and much of the world have very high-resolution aerial coverage, where individual cars, trees and rooflines are visible. Remote areas rely on satellite imagery at lower resolution. The preview shows you exactly what you'll get.

What places make the best custom prints?

Places with a strong shape or pattern: a coastline, a river bend, a city grid, a campus, a stadium, farmland, a harbor. Hometowns, wedding venues, honeymoon spots, alma maters, first homes and favorite trails are the most common requests.

How long does it take?

Once you approve the preview, the print is made to order in New York and ships free within the United States, arriving in about 7 to 10 business days. International shipping is available.

Can I get something bigger than 40 inches?

Yes. For sizes beyond XL, or multi-panel pieces, contact Overview directly and the team will quote it.
