Sedona, Arizona is encircled by an array of vibrant, red sandstone formations that glow throughout the day and with the setting sun. The Overview here shows the formations around Wilson Mountain, which are visible from the North side of the town.

Fish farming — or pisciculture — involves raising fish in tanks or enclosures, usually for food. In 2015, Greece had at least 300 of these farms and raised more than 242 million pounds (109 million kg) of fish and mussels.
Maxar TechnologiesSarychev Peak is located on Matua Island in the Kuril Islands of Russia. When the volcano erupted on June 11, 2009, the expulsion of debris caused significant interruption to air traffic between east Asia and North America. The eruption was also so great that astronauts aboard the International Space Station were able to photograph the plumes of ash and smoke rising from its cone, as the force of its shock waves dispersed all clouds covering the area.

In “fields” like these, seaweed is often grown on ropes attached to buoys, which hold the crop near the water’s surface. Maxar TechnologiesSerra de Santa Bárbara is an inactive volcanic peak on the island of Terceira in the Azores, Portugal. At 3,350 feet (1,021 m), it is the highest point on the island. Just below the peak is the Santa Bárbara Caldera, which is roughly 0.6 miles (1 km) in diameter and has two smaller peaks in its center.

Maxar TechnologiesThe Tangalooma Wrecks is a shipwreck site on the western side of Moreton Island in South East Queensland, Australia. It consists of 15 vessels that were deliberately sunk in 1963 to form a breakwall for small boats. In addition to providing safe harbor, the wrecks also created a popular dive and snorkel site, attracting a variety of marine life such as wobbegongs, trevally, kingfish, yellowtail and other tropical fish.

The 102,000 residents of Kiribati may be forced to relocate as increased ice melt causes the Pacific Ocean to rise and submerges its islands. Fiji has boldly offered to take in the people of Kiribati if that occurs. Tarawa, an atoll that serves as the capital of the country and is home to half of it’s population, is seen here.

Located just north of Amsterdam, the Twiske is home to a wealth of reed and water birds, foxes, ermines, and other wildlife.
Maxar TechnologiesUluru, or Ayers Rock, is a large sandstone formation in the Northern Territory of Australia. The monolith - towering 1141 feet high with an expanse of 2.2 x 1.2 miles - is a sacred site to the Aboriginal people of the area who first settled there 10,000 years ago. While the first Australian tourists arrived at Uluru in 1936, annual visitor numbers rose to over 400,000 by the year 2000. Increased tourism at the site provides regional and national economic benefits, but also creates an ongoing challenge to balance conservation, cultural values, and visitor needs.

The edges of Greenland’s ice sheet melt every summer; however, because the sheet is steepest at the edge, and flatter towards the middle, the warming of summer exposes a larger area of ice to melting every year. This particular Fjord is the second largest in eastern Greenland behind the Kangertittivaq Fjord.

Spanning 5,289 acres, Vail is the third largest single mountain ski resort in the United States and has the fourth largest skiable terrain in North America. This particular Overview was luckily captured in October as the foliage on the mountain was changing colors.
Maxar TechnologiesWildfires, visible at center, burn in Ventura, California. Numerous blazes have already destroyed hundreds of homes and thousands of residents have fled the surrounding areas. The largest fire has expanded to cover an area roughly the size as the city of Orlando. To be very clear, the two white streaks seen here at left are cloud cover, not fires.
NASAVictoria Falls is a waterfall located on the Zambezi River at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is classified as the largest with a width of 1,708 meters (5,604 ft) and height of 108 meters (354 ft). Accordingly the falls contains the world's largest sheet of falling water with a flow of approximately 1088 cubic meters per second.
Maxar TechnologiesVillarrica, a volcano in the Chilean Central Valley, is one of the few volcanoes in the world with a lava lake in its crater. Rising 2,860 m (9,380 ft), Villarrica covers an area of 400 square kilometers. The volcano’s most recent serious eruption was in 2015, which caused the evacuation of thousands of people in nearby communities.

Maxar TechnologiesWhakaari, also known as White Island, is an active stratovolcano, situated 48 km (30 mi) from the North Island of New Zealand in the Bay of Plenty. Whakaari is New Zealand’s most active volcano, and has been built up by continuous eruptions over the past 150,000 years. The island is approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) in diameter and rises to a height of 321 m (1,053 ft) above sea level.
