The bridge, which then becomes a tunnel, joins together two metropolitan areas — the Danish capital city of Copenhagen and the Swedish city of Malmö. The bridge itself has a mass of 82,000 tonnes and supports two railway tracks and four road lanes.

Orlando International Airport is a major public airport located six miles (10 km) southeast of Downtown Orlando, Florida. It is the busiest airport in Florida and the eleventh-busiest in the United States, handling more than 44.5 million passengers in 2017. Its hub-and-spoke layout features a large main terminal building surrounded by four airside concourses, with a total of 129 gates.

A single airplane waits at the international terminal of Palm Springs International Airport in Palm Springs, California. Thousands of automobiles await shipment and distribution at the Philadelphia Auto Processing Facility in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located on the Delaware River, this 84-acre (34-hectare) facility handles both imports and exports. With connections to Interstates 95 and 76 and two large railways, it is a major supply chain hub for the U.S. automobile industry.

Hundreds of vehicles are parked in a processing lot near the Port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since 2010, hundreds of thousands of Hyundai and Kia vehicles have arrived at “PhilaPort” — located on the Delaware River — aboard cargo ships from South Korea. After processing, these vehicles are delivered to dealerships across the country by truck and by rail.

Piraeus is a port city in Greece, roughly 7 miles (12 km) outside Athens. Since ancient times, it has served as a vital trade and transportation hub, and its port is currently the busiest passenger port in the country. In fact, the Port of Piraeus was the busiest in all of Europe in 2014, when it handled 18.6 million passengers.

The Piraeus Marina is located on the Bay of Zea and is surrounding by gridded streets in the Greek city of Piraeus. The city was developed in the early 5th century BC, when it was selected to serve as the port destination of classical Athens. Now, the city contains the second largest passenger port in the world, which services about 20 million passengers every year.

A plane flies over strawberry fields in Oxnard, California. From above, these fields have a silvery color because they are covered to protect berries from animal pests. During peak harvesting season — from April to June — more than 10 million pints of strawberries are shipped out of California every day, supplying the United States with 85% of its strawberries.

Boats are moored in the waters by Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts, USA. A nearby site onshore is recognized as the disembarkation point of William Bradford and the Mayflower Pilgrims who founded Plymouth Colony in 1620. Port Grimaud is a seaside town located on the French Riviera by the Gulf of Saint Tropez. The development consists of French “Fisherman” style houses built upon channels in a Venetian manner.

Port Hedland is the largest iron ore loading port in Australia and one of the largest in the world. Located in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, the port recorded a throughput of more than 550 million tons between 2016 and 2017. In March 2017, Port Hedland had its record single shipment of 297,000 tons, which was aboard the HL Tubarao, an 1,115-foot-long (340 m) vessel from Panama.

Port Hercules, the only deep-water port in Monaco, provides anchorage for up to 700 vessels. Monaco has an area of 0.78 square miles and a population of 36,371, making it the second smallest and the most densely populated country in the world.

Shipping containers are stacked at the Port Newark Container Terminal in Newark, New Jersey, USA. The massive facility handles over 600,000 shipping containers every year and has begun expansion projects that will increase annual capacity to 1.1 million containers by 2030.

The Port of Antwerp in Flanders, Belgium, is the second-largest seaport in Europe. Its inland location on a tidal estuary of the Scheldt River gives it an advantage over other North Sea ports, allowing its docks to connect to rail, road, river and canal transit systems. In 2018, nearly 14,600 seagoing vessels called at the Port of Antwerp with a combined transshipment of 235.2 million tonnes.

The Port of Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark has one of the largest passenger terminals in the Baltic Sea, handling more than 1.6 million passengers annually. The facility also contains one of the region’s busiest cargo terminals, which moves more than 18 million tonnes of cargo each year.

The Port of Felixstowe is the busiest port in the United Kingdom, handling approximately 42% of the country’s trade of shipping containers. The facility is able to accommodate ships that extend more than 400 meters (1312 feet) and have a cargo carrying capacity that is greater than half the volume of the Empire State Building.

The Port of Hamburg - known as Germany’s “Gateway to the World” - is located on the Elbe River in Hamburg. On an average day, the facility is accessed by 28 ships, 200 freight trains, and 5,000 trucks. In total, the port moves 132.3 million tonnes of cargo each year - that’s roughly 1/3 of the mass of all living human beings.
